  What was the weirdest thing ever said to you as a JW?

  i was about 8-10 years old and twice i had people tell me that i should not pioneer but to go to bethel because i "was governing body material".. one was a co and another a do.. i didn't even believe in god, never have so that makes it weird!.

  what wierd things were told?.

  we are working on a new design for jw.org and expect it to be available around september 1, 2012.. .

  when i listened to the dc (on like 2.25x speed) one of the demos was of the co and a brother talking about it.

  he was all like, i thought watchtower.org was the main site.

And the CO was like, "yo dawg, you're not keeping up with the chariot bro". And the brother hung his head, and said "tru dat, I'm so bad fo shizzle". the CO then said "Well dawg, you know now that the societay is using jw.org as the main website for it's presence on da webs". "so when you is out talkin to the mofos dat u study wit you need to make sho dat dey respect their spiritual mutha by goin and feedin on her spiritual milk baggies at jw.org"

  Did You Watch The Waltons?

  if so, did you enjoy the show?.

  i loved it.

  missed quite a few episodes due to attending kh meetings, but i'm making up for that.. the show reminds me so of growing up in a large family, having to share everything, and looking out for each other..

  Shows that were popular, but on Thursday nights (customary long meeting night) included The Waltons, Welcome Back Kotter, Barney Miller, Chico and the Man, Mork and Mindy, Benson, Buck Rogers, Magnum PI, Simon and Simon, Diffrent Strokes...by the mid 80s most people had a VCR and could now record what you would have otherwise missed on meeting nights. A miracle!

  Family was a regular over the air network show on ABC. It was far too worldly for us to watch.

  Did any uber-dubs ever look down on you for recording TV shows on meeting nights? Some people used to ask if people who did this also arranged to record the meeting if they missed.

  How Will The Watchtower Handle Disclosure?

  for me, the disclosure of ufo's as being real is just matter of time.

  it's not a matter of any mayan calendar or galactic alignment.

  it's simply the eventual outcome of increasing and increasingly bold ufo observations.

  Paging Mr. Noory...Mr. George Noory...

  I imagine that the Watchtower will simply talk about 'lying signs and wonders' from the demons and then just selfishly hold on to their thralls for as long as they can. Witness kids will catch on, though - they were brought up on StarWars and more. Years ago, a poster named "Prominent Bethelite" claimed that the WTS had a plan tucked away for just this scenario.

  Seriously, though I have to read what this is all about.

  I think the real rationale should be..............most 'magic' in movies and such, even harry potter, is 'fantasy'. No real witches and warlocks can fly, summon fire, do any of that.

  In my experience, the outcome was kids I knew had theirs thrown out.

  But seriously...any science fiction/fantasy that has magical overtones or deals with people or creatures having 'powers' is open to being objectionable.

  Most dubs would not stop their kids from seeing a Superman/Spiderman/Wonder Woman type movie/tv show even though they have powers, because it is not presented as supernatural. Hell, I bet most saw the X-Men movies and don't remember a Wolverine comic was actually pictured in an (actually balanced article with amazingly out of touch and dated examples) 1983 Awake! with the caption 'Many comic books portray sex and the occult.' When the powers start being things like telekinesis, mind reading, remote viewing, or outright magic, this is where many often will draw the line. Although all these were portrayed in the Star Wars films and few dubs refused to see these.

  What happens is amazing inconsistency in what content most judge ok and what isn't.

  Peter Pan ok! a fun, children's fantasy classic (but he flies and theres a fairy)

  Bedknobs & Broomsticks bad! magic!

  Mary Poppins nope! she's a witch!

  Freaky Friday bad! body switching!

  Pete's Dragon ok! a fun, children's fantasy

  The Secret of NIMH hmm...be careful; its not Disney...what does NIMH mean, anyway...better not see it

  The Dark Crystal...Muppets...but foreboding title and sounds magicy...better not go

  Superman ok! he's Superman

  And once in a while...a switcheroo is pulled requiring a walk-out.

  Supergirl go see it! it's like Superman but cuter! AHHH!! MAGIC! WALK OUT! (not to mention JW's are actually cursed at)

  Legend ARE YOU KIDDING?? THE DEVIL IS RIGHT ON THE POSTER!!!!!!!!

  So it often comes down to how its portrayed.
